My work is about enriching my relationships with aesthetics while, also, rendering similar impacts for a viewer to connect to the ways in which I experience a space or artwork. I explore the liminality between painting, sculpture, and architecture by bringing attention to the ways in which the relief can transform interplaying elements. By introducing relief, into what would otherwise be hard-edge painting, the sculpted bodies allow shadow, light, value, and the weights of color fields to interact with one’s varying perspective; when viewing the work, movement through the space truncates and alters patterns created by overlapping colors and forms. Graphically, these forms derive from the linear relationships that make up interior and exterior spaces. I abstract geometric forms that are symbolic of human spaces. My interest in shapes that represent architecture as human presence is reflective of a deep-rooted concern for the future of a mechanized world and oversaturation of human spaces in the environment. In an obsessive process of organization, I regain control over a listless state of anxiety. My work exhibits both the extent in which minimal changes in form, color, lighting, scale, and materials can impact our experiences, as well as the ways in which our individual relationships with visual aesthetics influence how we construct our own spaces.
